Learn Nahuatl, Quechua, or Haitian Creole this Autumn 2022!
Did you know that the Stanford Language Center is offering Nahuatl, Quechua, and Haitian Creole courses for credit this academic year 2022-23? These language courses are offered in 3-quarter sequences starting in autumn quarter, and completion of the first-year third quarter course fulfills the Stanford Language Requirement.
Nahuatl courses combine real-time distance-learning classes with periodic on-site instruction. The courses are taught by native-language instructors from the Zacatecas Institute for Teaching and Research in Ethnology (IDIEZ) in Zacatecas, Mexico. This variety of Nahuatl is from the municipality of Chicontepec, in the Huasteca region of northern Veracruz, Mexico. Nahua culture, history, and modern life are at the center of course instruction. Quechua courses emphasize the development of basic level communication skills using daily life topics and Quechua culture. Grammatical structures and vocabulary are introduced through interpersonal, interpretive and presentational modes of communication. Course offered this Autumn Quarter 2022:

Haitian Creole courses emphasize developing effective communication at a basic level, with topics on personal information and activities necessary for basic survival. Grammatical structures, vocabulary, and sentence patterns through speaking, reading, writing, and listening, and Haitian Creole culture. Course offered this Autumn Quarter 2022:
